Remembering Our Sandra

Well, here we are again, with news that we really wish we didn't have to pass along. It is with immense sadness that we share that our great friend Sandra Fossick passed away peacefully on October 28th.

It is an understatement to say that Sandra was instrumental in launching Haus of Yarn twenty years ago, and she continued to be a guiding light over those two decade. For many years, she was a twice- or thrice-weekly presence in the store, helping people make yarn choices, getting them over little hiccups in patterns, and demonstrating an almost superhuman work ethic that we wish everyone possessed!

But her true legacy is in the making of makers: she taught Beginning Knitting at Haus from almost the day the doors were opened, and we estimate that she shared her knowledge and love of knitting with over 1,400 students over twenty years; perhaps you were you one of them. If so, you know that Sandra was an incredibly smart, remarkable teacher with an astonishing sense of humor who truly believed in passing on what she knew about this amazing craft. We'll miss her every day.
