  Join us this Spring!

To our series of Knit Nights, we are adding the KOIGU KNIT NIGHT the 2nd Monday of each month. Join us from 5:00 – 7:30 for all things Koigu! Sock Knit Night is a special night for sock knitters and will remain on the 1st Thursday of each month from 5:30-7:30. Don’t knit socks yet? We have 3 beginner classes scheduled this spring – they fill up fast! We also will continue with Afghan Knit Night the last Monday of each month from 4:30 – 7:00. See other side for more details.

Heard of Heartstrings patterns? Great lace projects that look hard but are really easy? We will be having a special guest, Jackie E, creator of Heartstrings patterns, to teach 2 special classes on SUNDAY, March 2nd. We will have 2 separate sessions; the first is Socks From Toe-to-Cuff and the second is Beginning Lace. Learn a new cast on as well as how to size socks as you go! No more wondering if you have enough yarn to finish a pair of socks – you can now knit until you run out! And Lace! With spring approaching, lace is a wonderful item to work on as the weather gets warmer. What a fantastic opportunity to learn lace knitting from a nationally prominent knitwear designer and teacher. Call Haus of Yarn today and sign up for these one-day special events!

At the Spring Market in San Diego, we found a special cotton from Farmhouse called I’M ALLERGIC TO WOOL! This great cotton knits up quickly at 2 sts per inch and feels great. We will also carry a worsted version of the cotton in great colors. We have been thinking about baby blankets and vests for starters!

All that and we haven’t even told you about MISSION FALLS COTTON or BLUE SKY ORGANIC COTTON yarns that we will begin carrying this spring. We will have EVERY COLOR of the Mission Falls cotton as well as all the baby books and the latest adult leaflet. If you thought the baby things were wonderful (come in and see for yourself), you’ve got to see these great new designs for adults! And what can be said about Blue Sky’s Organic Cotton? Well, it is unbelievably soft – great for everything from baby blankets, sweaters, vests, hats, you name it. It knits at 4 sts to the inch and feels like butter in your hands! Watch the website for its arrival and come in and see this fantastic yarn for yourself!

Ready for new NORO? We have 2 new cotton yarns from Noro that you won’t want to miss! Arucania is sending Chacabuco, a chunky, bumpy lightweight pima cotton in great multi colors. From the Sublime line we will be getting Organic Cotton – a lightweight yarn that feels wonderful. The colors are all soft and naturally dyed. We are also getting a machine washable yarn called Linen in colors you will want to knit everything from market bags and dishcloths to summer t-shirts and baby items. Check the web for more details to come!

There are many great classes on the schedule this time including a Crochet PYP (pick your project) one-day classes. Want to learn to read a pattern? Want to learn half-double crochet? Want to learn to turn corners? Want to learn motifs? Sign up and join us and learn not only what you want to know, but what others in the class want to know as well. The more the merrier! Don’t miss out on this portable pastime that is taking the nation by storm!

Online shopping is available, pattern downloads are coming and don’t miss the “What’s New” section!

Happy knitting from the girls at Haus of Yarn!

  Knit Nights
Knit Nights are a fun time to get together with other knitters who are currently working with either the same yarn or project. These are not classes; there will be no formal teaching. If there is a technique you would like to learn and you don’t see a class scheduled for it, we offer private lessons anytime during regular store hours. Just call in advance to schedule.

Koigu Knit Night
Experience: knit, purl
Techniques learned: We will have fun knitting various projects on any of the over 120 colors of Koigu we have in stock! We are currently working on a crochet motif afghan and we can’t wait to see what you are working on with Koigu. Join us the 2nd Monday of each month for fresh ideas on this perennial favorite.
Materials: Yarn*
Class Cost: $5 each session paid at the door; you will receive a $5 coupon valid for in store purchases all month

Sock Knit Night
Experience: must have knit a sock previously
Techniques learned: Come join the fun! Fanatical sock knitters get to “talk sock” and see all the new sock yarn Haus of Yarn has received that month FIRST. That’s right. We hold new sock yarns and attendees that night get “first dibbs” on the goods.
Materials:
Class Cost: $5 each session paid at the door; you will receive a $5 coupon valid for in store purchases all month

Afghan Knit Night
Experience: knit, purl
Techniques learned: Afghan too big of a project? Most knitters who have been attending are working on Manos squares – which makes the afghan a portable project and much more manageable. Learn different stitch patterns with each square worked. You may also purchase your yarn for the Manos squares a few balls at a time, which breaks up the cost as well. Join us the last Monday of each month
Materials: Yarn*
Class Cost: $5 each session paid at the door; you will receive a $5 coupon valid for in store purchases all month

*Important Note:  Classes fill up quickly, so check your schedule and register now. Please ensure you can attend all the classes in the series, as make-ups are at the discretion of the teacher and are not guaranteed by Haus of Yarn. Class fees are non-refundable. Prior to 2 weeks before the start of a class, cancellations will receive store credit. We want your final project to be something you value for years to come; and to avoid disappointment in your final project, we ask that all materials marked with an * be purchased at Haus of Yarn for the class.
