Pom-pom Hat

Five Weeks and Counting!

We shared a few great projects in last week's newsletter that'll work up quickly for everyone who's made your knit-worthy list...and this week, we found a few more for you. It seems everywhere you look this season, hats with giant pom-poms are all the rage. We knit this one in Plymouth's Baby Alpaca Grande, one of our most popular yarns. Why? Because it's amazingly soft, light and lofty, comes in a beautiful range of colors, doesn't pill, is hypo-allergenic, and is a quick-knit chunky weight yarn. This 100% Alpaca yarn is simply beautiful and so soft to the touch! Baby alpaca is among the finest grades of alpaca, and Baby Alpaca Grande has two fat plies of cushiony softness.  Add one of the faux-fur pom-poms and your hat will be gift-ready!  The pattern is free with yarn purchase.

Huasco Cowl Huasco Cowl 2

Slippity Doo-Dah Cowl!

Like the sound of a two-fer? Buy two skeins of Aruacania's Huasco Chunky - one each in two colors - and you'll have enough yarn to make two of the Slippity Doo-Dah cowls (pattern free with yarn purchase). Choose two contrasting colors, add a simple slipped stitch pattern and you'll create a graphic grid in this richly textured cowl. Araucania Huasco is a hand-dyed, chunky weight yarn made from 100% extrafine soft merino wool that's incredibly soft and squooshy! The colors in Huasco Chunky are tonal, very saturated combinations that compliment each other well...the hardest decision will be choosing a color!

Kim Barrick Card

One for Them...One for You!

If you've been into our shop, you've seen that we have an incredibly beautiful oil painting by local artist Kim Barrick hanging behind our checkout counter. Last year, we were lucky enough to get our hands on some of her limited edition still-life knitting notecards, but we didn't order nearly as many as we should have and they sold out in a matter of days. Lesson learned! We doubled our order this year!  Each pack contains two each of four designs for a total of 8 4x6 blank notecards. These would make amazing gifts for your knitting friends...or maybe "To: You, From: You"!

A Note from Christina, Organizer of Threads of Kindness:

Hello everyone...I'd like to invite you to join a group that is very near to my heart as I know it is for many of you.  We are working to provide hospice patients in middle Tennessee with a blanket or shawl for a little comfort at a time when they may most need it and preemie blankets and hats to many of the Nashville's Neo-Natal units.  If you think this giving opportunity may be right for you, please reach out to us.  We are fortunate to have generous yarn donations from Haus of Yarn helping us along our way and would love to share our stash with you.
