This Week's Inspiration!
Between prepping for Stitches South and receiving new yarns for Spring and Summer, we've been quite busy around the shop! One of the first new yarns we'd like to share with you is Nettle Grove. So silky soft, yet you'd never guess that this yarn contains 12% nettle! An eco-friendly fiber, nettle blends beautifully with cotton, linen and silk in this warm-weather yarn. All eight colors have been packaged up into kits to make the Nettle Grove Ridged Shawl. The pattern is included with the kits, which are available now in the store, and we'll also be bringing these with us to Stitches South.
Not familiar with Stitches South?
Stitches South will be in Nashville, from March 31st - April 3rd at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. There'll be tons of classes and vendors and we'll be there, of course! We have so many new yarns and samples to share with you -- we'll be spotlighting a few every week leading up to Stitches, but some will be making their debut at Stitches, so don't miss out! Be sure to check out the Stitches South website, register for a class and purchase a ticket for the vendor market! See you there!
The Perfect Project Bag
Everyone here in the shop is just absolutely mad for the Field Bag by Fringe Supply Co. Fringe is headquartered in Nashville, and the bags themselves are sewn here as well, so this is about as locally-sourced as you can get! A 100% cotton canvas project bag with a drawstring, leather handle and knitting-specific interior pockets (including a pocket with grommeted holes, perfect for those times when you might have multiple yarns working), we carry it in grey, black and natural...and you'll have a hard time choosing!
The Yearlong Knitalong: March Is Here!
Join us in the store TODAY (Monday, March 7th) at 11:00 am, as we kick off the next installment of the Yearlong Knitalong! This time around, we'll be working on the Chevron Mosaic Baby Blanket, inspired by a stitch pattern from knitting legend Barbara Walker. Walker strove to discover those moments in knitting when something seemingly intricate turns out to be very easy. Finding color work's bobbins and multiple strands of yarn cumbersome, she developed a slip-stitch technique she called "Mosaic Knitting, " a clever way to create elaborate, colorful patterns using only basic stitches (knit, slip and occasionally purl). As Walker herself discovered, there is beauty in simplicity...and the simplicity is front and center in the Mosaic Blanket (although you won't have to tell anyone just how simple it actually is to make!). Not interested in making a Mosaic Blanket? You can still join the Yearlong Knitalong with an afghan block pattern from the Haus of Yarn Block-a-Month Afghan book.
Remember: attendance for Knitalong Mondays is always free! As a genuine 'thank you!' for your participation, all materials purchased at Haus of Yarn that relate directly to each month's knitalong will qualify for double stamps on our Haus of Yarn Reward Card. DOUBLE STAMPS! We really do appreciate your participation and want to encourage as many of you to make as many of the monthly projects as possible. Earning double stamps will make it that much easier!
Not local? No worries! Join the Yearlong Knitalong virtually. We'll be creating threads for each Knitalong project in our Ravelry group. Click here to join our group and come knit along with us!
We'd love to see your projects! In process or completed...if you're on Instagram, join in anytime with #yearlongknitalong and #hausofyarntn.
