Paloverde

This Week's Inspiration!

Looking for a fun, fast summer knit?  Paloverde is an oversized easy lace pullover with sleeves knit in stockinette.  Throw it on over a tank or sundress and you're all set! Pattern includes sizing from X-Small to 2X.  Our sample is knit with Maya, a chainette blend of silky Pima cotton with just a touch of soft baby alpaca.  This worsted weight yarn is surprisingly light and airy, and gives great stitch definition. You'll love Maya's touchable softness for warm weather accessories and garments.

Rosewater

Slightly Obsessed!

If you have been paying attention to our newsletter, you've probably noticed our obsession with designer Janina Kallio. In the last month alone, Melodia, Antarktis, Stella & Herald have flown off our needles!

Allow us to introduce you to Janina's latest beauty, Rosewater. An ethereal & elegant shawl with a garter stitch body, Rosewater features a simple lace border with eyelets and dropped stitches. Our very own, "Mama Jo" was a test knitter for this pattern and is already clamoring to volunteer for the next test knit! She knit our sample with Swans Island Fingering, a 100% organic merino that is hand-dyed with all natural dyes. The minimal processing and low micron count give this yarn an incredibly soft feel. With 525 yards per skein, you can easily complete a shawl with just one. Made in Northport, Maine, USA.

Summer Knit-a-long... with prizes!

Janina happens to be hosting a summer knit-along running until August 2nd.  Hop on over to the Janina Kallio Design Ravelry group for details!  We've decided to piggy-back Janina's KAL and host one of our own!  The rules are simple:

  • if you haven't yet, please join our Ravelry group
  • knit any shawl by designer Janina Kallio using yarn purchased from Haus of Yarn
  • post a finished photo in our Ravelry group by August 2nd

On August 3rd, we will select one name from a random drawing.  The winner will win a skein of yarn, pattern & project bag!

Happy Knitting!

A Note from Christina, Organizer of Threads of Kindness:

Hello everyone...I'd like to invite you to join a group that is very near to my heart as I know it is for many of you.  We are working to provide hospice patients in middle Tennessee with a blanket or shawl for a little comfort at a time when they may most need it and preemie blankets and hats to many of the Nashville's Neo-Natal units.  If you think this giving opportunity may be right for you, please reach out to us.  We are fortunate to have generous yarn donations from Haus of Yarn helping us along our way and would love to share our stash with you.
