BEGINNING KNITTING
We teach two beginning knitting workshops:
Just the Basics (101) will teach you the knit and purl stitch and you will create a scarf.
In Beyond the Basics (102) you will expand on your knowledge of the knit and purl stitch and learn how to cast on, bind off, yarn over, I-cord and seaming as you make a hat.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Just the Basics (101) ~ None
Beyond the Basics (102) ~ prior knowledge of the knit stitch and purl stitch.
TECHNIQUES LEARNED:
Just the Basics (101) ~ Cast-on, Knit, Purl.
Beyond the Basics (102) ~ Introduction to gauge, increases, decreases, finishing techniques, correcting common mistakes.
MATERIALS REQUIRED:
US8 24" circular needle; US8 double-point needles; tapestry needle, T-pins, 200 yards worsted weight yarn in a light, solid color.
CLASS COST:
Just the Basics (101): $40 for two one and a half -hour sessions with Alison.
Beyond Basics (102): $50 for three two-hour sessions with Alison

FEARLESS FINISHING
Learn the various methods of seaming, Kitchener stitch, picking up stitches and weaving in ends.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Basic knitting (cast on, knit, purl)
TECHNIQUES LEARNED:
Various ways of seaming, Kitchener stitch, picking up stitches and weaving in ends.
HOMEWORK REQUIRED:
Here's what you'll need to show up with
- Stockinette swatches (make three total)
(1) cast on 20 stitches and work in stockinette approximately 3 or 4 inches. Bind off.
(2) Cast on 20 stitches and work in stockinette stitch for 2 inches. Bind off.
(3) Cast on 10 stitches and work in stockinette stitch for 3 inches. Bind off. - Garter swatch (make one) – cast on 20 stitches and knit approximately 3 or 4 inches. Bind off.
- 1x1 Ribbing swatch (make one) – cast on 20 stitches and knit approximately 1.5 to 2 inches (k1p1). Bind off.
- 2x2 Ribbing swatch (make one) – cast on 22 stitches and knit approximately 1.5 to 2 inches (k2p2). Bind off.
- 3-needle bind off (make two) – cast on 20 stitches and work in stockinette for approximately 1.5 inches to 2 inches. Leave stitches on the needles.

FIXING MISTAKES
Let's face it: we ALL make mistakes when we knit. We drop a stitch or forget a yarnover and don't see it until the next row...and sometimes we're not quiiiite sure how to fix it! If this sounds a little too familiar to you, you need to take this class!
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Basic knitting (cast on, knit, purl)
TECHNIQUES LEARNED:
Fixing a dropped stitch in garter, stockinette (on the knit and purl side), and how to correct mistakes at the beginning and end of a row. You will also learn how to fix missed yarnovers and missed decreases
HOMEWORK REQUIRED:
Arrive with three completed 4" x 4" swatches knit in a smooth, light-colored, worsted-weight yarn.
- Swatch 1: garter, do not bind off, leave on a needle. Leave yarn attached!
- Swatch 2 & 3: stockinette, do not bind off, leave on needle. Leave yarn attached!
Kendall recommends that swatches be worked on circular needles.

KAL WITH ALISON
Join Alison for an in-store guided KAL happening DECEMBER 2ND and 9TH ~ 10AM UNTIL NOON. Alison will teach you the magic-loop technique of knitting small circumferences in the round using the Welted Fingerless Gloves pattern. Suitable for an advanced beginner.

SOCKS ON TWO CIRCS
Beginning Socks on Two Circs class!

GENIE COWL WITH LEAH
Learn stranded colorwork that's allllmost Fair Isle! You'll make this cowl that's as pretty on the inside as it is on the outside. Don't be afraid...the yarn does most of the work for you!
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Basic knitting (cast on, knit, purl)
TECHNIQUES LEARNED:
Simple color work
HOMEWORK REQUIRED:
Arrive at class with 120 stitches cast on with Main Color using smaller needles. Join in the round and work *k1, p1* ribbing for 5 rounds.
TOOLS:
16" US8 and US10 circular needles; Circular needles may be fixed but if you already own an interchangeable set, you may find using them ideal to manage your project.
PATTERN:
DOWNLOAD pattern from Ravelry and PRINT prior to class.
MATERIALS:
One skein Malabrigo Rios, and One skein Spincycle Dream State, stitch markers.
