Rosy Green

New Yarn! New Sample!

The Drachenfels shawl pattern isn't a new one -- it's been out in the wild for three years now, with over 4,500 completed projects logged in Ravelry! It's been on our radar for a loooong time, but we just couldn't decide which yarn to sample it in. But then, we were lucky enough to become a Rosy Green Wool Cheeky Merino Joy stockist and all the planets aligned. If you've never seen this shawl in person, do stop by the shop to see it -- it's perfectly sized and generous enough to not fall off of your shoulders. It's worked in garter stitch from tip to edge - with a little slipped garter colorwork along the way - and finished with an I-cord bind off. Cheeky Merino Joy is an organic yarn produced by a small English fiber mill and dyer with wool sourced from Patagonia -- this yarn is soft...and when we say soft, we really should be shouting: SOFT!!! The sample is knit with just one skein each of Cornish Slate, Edelweiss and Isar Pebble. Another great combo is Coffee Bean, Wild Mallow and Ruby...but you can see all the available colors here!

TN State Fair

The Fair Is in the Air!

It's that time of year! The Tennessee State Fair is coming up soon -- Sept. 8-17. It's not alllll about Ferris wheels and corn dogs (though it is definitely about those too!) -- it's also a great place to take a look at a lot of fiber-related things...the Fair is loaded up with livestock, demonstrations and competitions that are all directly related to the hobby we all love...whether it's knitting, crochet, spinning, quilting, needlework, felting...the list goes on!

We encourage you to enter a Creative Arts category (you can see the list here); the more entries there are, the more people can see how vibrant our community is! Haus of Yarn-ers have done well in the past...help keep the streak alive. Plus, you might win a pretty ribbon!

Christmas in July

Time to Make Some Room Around Here!

We're just back from our annual yarn-buying trip and we've got to make some room in the shop for all the new goodies we have on order! If you live locally, you know we usually only have one sale a year: the after-Christmas sale, where any yarns we had decided to phase out over the course of the year unpacked are put on sale at rock-bottom prices. Well, we're gonna do it a bit differently this year! Beginning today, selected yarns are 40% off! The sale will last until it's all gone so be sure to swing by the shop or visit our website while the getting is good -- once it's gone, it's gone.

Happy shopping, y'all!
