Juniper Moon Findley

Paddington's Garden Shawl

Is it Spring...Yet?

We think Spring is finally here (though Mom still says don't plant anything until April 15). One of our favorite pieces for this time of year is the Paddington's Garden shawl from designer Janina Kallio. Although the pattern is written for a light fingering weight yarn, we worked one up with just one skein of Findley from Juniper Moon Farm, a lace-weight blend of Merino and silk that's unbelievably soft with a beautiful sheen, thanks to the silk. The pattern incorporates overall eyelet sections balanced with bands of garter stitch for an airy and incredibly lightweight shawl.

LYS Day

Save the Date - LYS Day is coming!

Mark those calendars! Show your support for small businesses (like Haus of Yarn!) by celebrating the inaugural Local Yarn Store Day on Saturday, April 21st! This brick-and-mortar yarn shop appreciation day is a nationwide event, so if you don't find yourself in Nashville on Saturday, April 21st, check with your LYS to see what they have planned!

We'll be hosting four local makers to celebrate the craft we all love:

  • Meg from Nutmeg Fibers will be with us all day with all four of her amazing yarns, each sourced from the US and dyed by hand with natural dyes in small batches.
  • Lauren from Old Rusted Chair will be in store between 11am and 2pm and will have freshly restocked us with her incredibly gorgeous yarn!
  • Mary Jo from The Crafting Treehouse will be here all day with her adorable wooden stitch marker sets and Kitchener key fobs.
  • Vicki from Black Cat Bags will be with us all day (uhm, err...she'll be the one running the register!) with her impeccably sewn box bag project bags!

And, as usual, we have an entire section of the store devoted to locally-made yarns and accessories. Come join us and support your favorite LYS and local makers!
