Yearlong Knitalong: February!

Join us in-store, next Monday, February 7th, from 11:00am - 12:00pm for the February installment of the Haus of Yarn Yearlong Knitalong!

What We're Making: The Cable Hat from Dora Stephensen!

When we stumbled upon this pattern on Ravelry, we instantly fell in love and knew we had to include it in our knitalong. We love this classic cable stitch and how the cables grow out from the 2x2 ribbed band...such a classic beauty!

We have two samples, one worked up in Camellia Fiber Co. Yak and another in Big Bad Wool Weepaca. This silver Yak version is a luscious blend of 65% super-soft merino, 20% silk and 15% yak.  Weepaca has long been one of our favorite yarns and is a blend of 50% Merino and 50% Alpaca. We knit it up in Ashes, but there are fifty colors in stock!Shop Camellia Yak HERE! You'll only need one skein.
Shop Big Bad Wool Weepaca HERE! You'll need two skeins.
Love the faux fur poms? They can be found HERE! We used buff on our Yak sample and Slate on the Weepaca model.

Blankets! Blankets! Blankets!

We showed you this adorable baby blanket knit using Cumulus Rainbow from Juniper Moon Farm back in August and quickly sold out of the color called Tropical Sunset....but we're happy to report it's baaaack!!!

There are loads of amazing "soft" yarns out there, but this one will have you exclaiming, "that is sooooo soft!" Cumulus Rainbow is a cloud-like worsted weight, chainette cotton yarn with a touch of nylon for durability. Using two cakes of it, we started knitting from the outside of cake #1 and then continued working cake #2 from the center out, (which keeps the ombre color sequence seamless). Our blanket is 23" wide by 33" long - a perfect size for a car seat baby blanket.

Shop Cumulus Rainbow HERE! You'll need two cakes if you want to make this spectacular blanket. The pattern is free and will be included with your two-cake Cumulus Rainbow purchase.

You'll need a 24" US 9 circular needle and a couple of stitch markers!

While we're talking about baby blankets, another shop fave uses Baby Blossom Chunky, a pretty self-patterning yarn with dainty little flowers that appear scattered through stripes as you knit. It's 100% machine wash- and dry-able, which makes it perfect for any baby-mishap situations!

Shop Baby Blossom Chunky HEREYou'll need two skeins to yield a blanket that's approximately 32" square. The pattern is free and will be included with your two-skein Blossom Chunky purchase.

You'll need a 24" US 9 circular needle and a couple of stitch markers!
