Spincycle Restocks!! And a Spincycle Project

The Big Brown Truck© pulled up the other day full of a fantastic way to start the new year: restocks of Spincycle Dyed in the Wool and WIlder! To celebrate, we're revisiting the Mauna Hat, which showcases both of these shop-favorite yarns.

Mauna is a beauty, featuring lovely little skill-building nuggets; a teensy little Latvian braid right above the brim and easy, two-color stranded knitting. If you've been wanting to try your hand at either, we think this one is a perfect pattern to begin with.

By the way, this is a great time of year to hunker down and add to your bag of tricks one little bit at a time. Don't be afraid of the Latvian braid! (hmmmm, maybe we should © that as well!). We like this YouTube tutorial.

Find both yarns HERE! You'll need one skein of each to complete your hat. We used Wilder in Light Grey and Dyed in the Wool in Stay Out of the Forest.

Blue Spruce Socks

In addition to a restock of Spincycle, the Big Brown Truck© brought us twenty absolutely gorgeous tweedy colors of Deluxe Tweed DK that's perfect for everything: sweaters, accessories, blankets...

...and socks! We're quite smitten with these Blue Spruce socks knit up in Deluxe Tweed DK. These socks are warm, cozy, and a heck of a lot easier to knit than you might think. If you aren’t a fan of stranded colorwork, don’t fret! The Blue Spruce motif is achieved through slipped stitches. One color is carried at a time and only the stitches requiring the working yarn are knit - the rest are simply slipped purlwise. There are three of us already knitting them... so stay tuned for more color combinations!
