BIG NEWS: Haus of Yarn + MO Fibers = 2Gether 4Ever
It's been Top Secret information for a while, but we can finally tell you all about our new partnership with Nashville's own Modus Operandi Fibers!
We've turned over a hefty amount of Haus' square footage to Rin - the big cheese at MO Fibers - and she's turned it into an eye-popping squishy wonderland of awesomeness with six hand-dyed bases in approximately one billion colors. There are also more than a dozen brand-new, fresh-off-the-needles garment and accessory samples, all worked up in Rin's yarn.
Rin specializes in yarn that's naturally dyed by hand with leaves, roots, flowers and seeds right here in Nashville. Some of that stuff came out of the ground right here in Tennessee! That's as local as you can get!
From here on out, MO Fibers is exclusively available through us, either in-store or via our website (her website will remain accessible, but will redirect purchases to us here at Haus of Yarn for fulfillment). We hope you'll come in and see it all; it's a real thrill to have such beautiful yarn at our disposal. Rin's a true artist, thoughtful and deliberate about everything she does and makes, and we're excited to be her representative!
We're going to dedicate some space in this and the following two newsletters to introduce you to Rin's bases - a few per week! But if you're the read-the-last-page-of-the-mystery-first type, you can just click HERE to go ahead and see all six!
Meet: MO Fibers Cotton Sport
Modus Operandi Fibers Cotton Sport is a soft, light and cozy DK/heavy sport weight cotton yarn. It's 100% organic, U.S. grown and spun 2 ply unmercerized cotton.
The weather in Nashville is...unpredictable. We mean...just this past week, we swung from 20-degree lows to 60-degree highs! But having a cotton sweater in your closet means you've got a super-wearable sweater for almost every season! This particular cotton fiber is meant to be worn and laundered (by hand) again and again. It gets better with age and becomes buttery soft.
We've got some terrific ideas (and samples!) for which MO Cotton Sport is perfect:
Mooncrush (above left), designed by Jacqueline Cieslak, is a cool color-blocked summer daydream of a tank, designed for play, with deep armholes and wide shoulders. Mooncrush features a boxy, sporty silhouette that's equally well-matched with your favorite cut-offs or layered over a linen sundress (swoooon!). The pattern includes nine sizes, options for cropped or full length, tips for working intarsia (one tip: it's easy!), yarn requirements, and instructions for making a 2- or 3-color version, along with original charts for the intarsia panels across the entire size range.
The Me Oh My Tee (above right), designed by Park Williams, is a must-have basic...a classic everyday t-shirt with a cropped silhouette. It's worked from the bottom up at a fairly tight gauge and has a clever sleeve construction that mimics set-in sleeves - we definitely see this tee as a go-to t-shirt for years to come! The pattern includes nine sizes; each is designed to be cropped, but adding length is easy-peasy... just knit a few more inches if you'd prefer a bit more length.

Meet: MO Fibers Merino Fingering + Lace Mohair
Modus Operandi Fibers Merino Fingering is a soft non-superwash merino base with a well-defined twist and crisp stitch definition. With a fine micron count and untreated fibers, the fabric can be knit dense and structured or loose, with a bit of drape. Lace Mohair is a lace weight, non-superwash kid mohair and silk blend. Fluffy, soft, and perfect alone or for holding double to create a halo effect.
Both MO Fibers Merino Fingering and Lace Mohair were utilized in the Cozy Classic Raglan pullover (above), designed by Jessie Made Designs. We love the overall classic silhouette of this one; it's universally flattering, with a laid-back, comfy style. Combining Lace Mohair's pretty halo and shimmery core with the sturdy, high twist from the Merino Fingering, the fabric produced is divine! The squish factor is off the charts, and it's a perfect piece for sudden, random 20-degree days. The Cozy Classic Raglan pattern covers nine sizes.

North Alabama/Tennessee Yarn Skip
After a couple of years off (because, you know), the North Alabama & Tennessee Yarn Skip is back this year, and it's better than ever! Featuring eight LYSs in two states (and two time zones!), you have ten days to visit as many as you can.
Pick up a Yarn Skip passport at your first stop, get it stamped at each remaining shop, and qualify for the grand prize -- there are also door prizes along the way!
Haus will be extending its hours (Mon-Sat, 10am-5:30pm) for the duration of the Yarn Skip to give you more time to trundle up and down I-65 (say "hi" to the big chicken at the Elkton exit for us!). The full list of participants is below; we've linked to each shop, and, like us, many of them have extended their hours for the Yarn Skip. But we strongly urge you to call them and confirm their open hours before piling in your car!
