Uchiwa: Perfect for Anisie!

We're revisiting a shop favorite this week because it's perfect for spring...which has sprung! Sprang?

ANYWAY. The Anisie oversized tee is made up of simple garter and stockinette stitches, and it's knit sideways - it's so cool!  We love it in Noro's Uchiwa, which means you only need 2-4 skeins depending upon which size you make (see below for specifics).

Uchiwa is made of 50% cotton, 30% viscose and 20% silk. A worsted weight yarn with 547 yards per 200g ball, Uchiwa has a unique contrasting color twist that creates an eye-catching tweedy marl.  At the same time, a longer, more subtle color blending produces a beautiful gradation in the background coloring.

The 38, 42 and 46" sizes require 2 skeins
The 51, 54, 58 and 62" sizes require 3 skeins
The 66 and 70" sizes require 4 skeins

Shop Uchiwa HERE! Buy two or more skeins of Uchiwa and we'll throw in the Anisie pattern for free!

Sockotta + Summer Socks

Shades of Sockotta is as cool and soft as it is strong and durable! It's perfect for "breathable" projects and it's especially well-suited for summer socks. The twelve colors of this super versatile sock yarn run the gamut from black, grey, and burgundy through green, brown and blues. Sockotta's fiber composition (45% Cotton, 40% Wool and 15% Nylon) is a great match for warmer temps and the 3-ply construction means your stitches will lie flat and smooth. The machine washable fiber combo makes for easy garment care. While ideal for socks, we aren't ruling Sockotta out for summer tops!

Local Yarn Store Day: Everything's Coming Up Zinnias!

Mark those calendars! Show your support for small businesses (like Haus of Yarn!) by celebrating Local Yarn Store Day on Saturday, April 29th! This brick-and-mortar yarn shop appreciation day is a nationwide event, so if you don't find yourself in Nashville on Saturday, April 29th, check with your LYS to see what they have planned! We'll be showcasing some of what we have planned in this and the next newsletter.

First up:  the humans from Old Rusted Chair (sorry Hose Cat, you gotta stay home for this one) will be bringing some handmade home goods to Haus of Yarn. They'll be bringing plenty of soy + beeswax candles along with ice-dyed napkins, tea towels and art, along with other awesome bits and bobs they're making between now and then. Meg is personally very excited about the ice dyed mini wall hangings. They're a fun way to add a splash of color in a small space.

They've also dyed up an incredibly beautiful batch of Old Rusted Chair Sock Yarn inspired by zinnias!  We're hoping by offering this one up as a preorder (that's a hint: you can preorder it now), we can alleviate some of the worry about being here on LYS Day before it sells out. Feel free to reserve your Haus Zinnia skein now and it'll be ready for pick up (or shipping) on Saturday the 29th!
