What's the Deal with Haus and Zinnias?
It's upon us! Local Yarn Store Day is this Saturday, April 26. Join us here at Haus for the annual celebration of all things local and yarny!
We started including little packets of zinnia seeds with orders during the early COVID days after we discovered that - in the world of old-fashioned flower lore - zinnias represented absent friends. We've kept the tradition alive as a reminder of how much we value all of you - our friends! - and appreciate you for supporting Haus all year-round...not just on LYS Day!
We'll include a packet of zinnia seeds with every order - in-store or online - as long as supplies last; no need to include a note or anything. We'll remember (again: as long as supplies last)!
The Zinnia Mini Skeins are Back: It's Shadow Cowl Time!
We feature the Shadow Cowl every year as part of the Zinnia-palooza surrounding Local Yarn Store Day, and this year is no different! We just can't resist having our friends at Manos del Uruguay dye up this gorgeous zinnia-themed Fino Mini Skein Kit once a year just for us, and the Shadow Cowl is the perfect project for it. The mini-skein bundles usually sell out in the blink of an eye, but a new batch just arrived, so you're in luck. Thank you so much for loving this little Haus zinnia-inspired color bundle as much as we do!
Fino is a blend of fingering-weight silk and merino; each bundle has five mini skeins totaling 490 yards of light fingering weight yarn. Each kit contains five 20g-mini skeins and also includes a printed pattern for the Shadow Cowl.
The Haus Zinnia Manos Fino Bundles (along with several additional gorgeous color combos) are available HERE! You'll need one mini bundle to make a Shadow. The printed pattern for the Shadow Cowl is free with any Fino mini skein yarn bundle purchase. If you'd like a digital one for your Ravelry account, HERE YOU GO.
Once More, with Fino: the Incremento Shawl
The Fino Mini Skein restock also included several other colorways; we're big fans of the blues and neutrals of the Clarissa bundle, used here with a single full-sized skein of Fino in Letter Opener/Ivory to make the Incremento Shawl. We love Incremento's clean, modern lines and the cool color combo of Ivory and the Clarissa bundle puts us in mind of wind and water and mountains and sky... nature, basically. It's an easy knit, the intermittent stripes are achieved by working wrap & turn shortrows, if you've never tried them, maybe now's the time!
You can find Clarissa mini skeins (as well as the Ivory full-sized skein you'll need) RIGHT HERE. We'll include a printed copy of the pattern when you buy the necessary goodies for the shawl; if you'd prefer a digital copy in your Ravelry account, HAVE AT IT RIGHT HERE.
