The Alex Scarf

Little neck scarves get us every time. They're perfect quick knits that also happen to be perfect to have on hand when the wind whips up...or when you just want to look as chic as all-get-out.

The Alex Scarf from designer Pernille Larsen is our current favorite. Worked up in Knitting for Olive's Compatible Cashmere, (held double), Alex is a simple 2x2 ribbed scarf worked back and forth from tip to tip with a few increases at the beginning and corresponding decreases at the end. Seriously: so simple. Minimal effort; maximum result!

Spun with luxuriously soft 100% cashmere, lace-weight KFO's Compatible Cashmere delivers smooth, polished stitches. Light and airy, it's ideal for lace wraps, cowls, mitts and hats, as well as extremely fine gauge sweaters and  cardigans. We used two balls for our small Alex.

Sunflowers in Support of Ukraine

Our Vicki recently worked up this gorgeous version of the Sunflowers in Support of Ukraine hat; it's a free pattern that you can get RIGHT HERE. That Ravelry link also offers a lot of ways to support the people in Ukraine; definitely click through and give it some thought!

Vicki used Kelbourne Woolen's Perennial Merino/Suri Alpaca/Nylon in Ultramarine and Pineapple (one of each) and the result is rather stunning. You'll only need a US 1.5 (2.5mm) needle to make yours.

Crochet Secrets

H&H was the trade show that just kept on giving! We fell in love with a big ol' swath of books (stay tuned) because as convenient as we find digital text and information these days (especially in the knitting and crochet world), sometimes we just wanna flip through the pages of a genuine book!

Crochet Secrets from The Knotty Boss caught our eye with its clean, clear photography and simply presented tips and tricks that come in handy for hook-ers of all stripes - beginners and experts alike. Covering everything from the early basics (hello, slipknots two ways!) to finishing items with confidence, this little volume is sure to become a crafter's bookshelf classic.

The Perfect De-Fuzzer!

One more irresistible lil' thing, y'all! At H&H, Meg also pounced on Gleener's Sweater Saver, which is the perfect-sized comb for heirloom knits -- which has not always been the case with other de-fuzzers she's run across. This one is almost foolproof when it comes to eliminating pilling, lint and fuzz on a wide array of knitted fabrics. Lifelong problem solved! Whew!

You can grab a Sweater Saver RIGHT HERE. Colors vary; we'll pick for you.
