OOPS: May's Monthly Make
Y'all, we forgot something in last week's newsletter! In the hullaballoo surrounding Local Yarn Store Day, May's Monthly Make got lost in the mix. But rest assured, it's still happening...and it begins today!
May's Monthly Make is Poppy the Chicken! You might have seen Meg's samples lurking on the back counter and we're so excited to finally let them out of the coop!
We're using Ikigai's Chibi Paka Chunky; for a solid chicken (on the left in the photo above), you'll need two skeins. For a white-bottomed bird (on the right), you'll need two of your main "body" color and then a single skein of French Vanilla for the bottom. You can find the whole range of Chibi Paka Chunky RIGHT HERE.
The pattern is right here; it's free! ALERT: Do refer to Meg's Ravelry project page for a couple of modification notes!
If you're local to the Middle Tennessee area, feel free to join us in-store TODAY - Monday, May 5 - at 11am for the meet-up. Not local? Join us in spirit and just cast on whenever the mood strikes you and just make something!
Shiny Happy Cotton...
and HEY DON'T FORGET! Malibu CAL with Kendall!
Wool and the Gang's Shiny Happy Cotton is like the cozy hug you didn't know you needed! Soft and sleek with beautiful drape, this yarn is perfect for summer knits or timeless wardrobe classics. All 34 colors of Shiny Happy Cotton have finally arrived and it's great fun to play with combos and imagine using it for everything from washcloths to summer sweaters.
AND SPEAKING OF SUMMER SWEATERS...ready to level up your crochet skills? Join Kendall for a fun guided CAL where you can create your own Malibu Tank or Sweater! We adore the retro-inspired contrast stripes in this design, which uses seven vibrant colors of Shiny Happy Cotton. You can also switch it up and make it in a single color or a two-color version. Make it your own thing!
This class is filling in for "Crochet 102" on the schedule because it covers the same skills; it's just project-specific. Slots are filling up quickly, but we've still got a couple of openings for both sets of sessions:
July 5th, 12th and 19th ~ 12:30pm until 2:30pm, class fee $50 (does not include materials)
October 4th, 11th and 18th ~ 12:30pm until 2:30pm, class fee $50 (does not include materials)
Please check your calendars to see which set of sessions works best for you and call the store to reserve your spot! 615-354-1007
And while we're at it... Beginning Crochet 101 sessions start up again THIS SATURDAY, so if you've been waiting for that class to come around again (it's a three-session series), ACT NOW and call the store (again: 615-354-1007).
Loopy Mango Trunk Show
We absolutely love it when we run across a pattern that's fresh and modern that also works up in like five seconds. It's one of the advantages of Loopy Mango's patterns for their Big Cotton - and we've got an incredible trunk show of samples in-store right now! Come in and take a look at (and even try on!) some great ideas for Big Cotton; you'll have a summer sweater or vest in no time flat. We've also got a wall of Loopy Mango Big Cotton (16 colors!) at the ready!
We particularly love two vests from the collection: the Always Summer Top and the Easy Vest. We also can't take our eyes off the My First Cable Baby Blanket - and we don't know a single person who doesn't need that fun Mini Market Fringed Bag.
Online shoppers: check the charts below for yarn quantities for each of the two vests. The blanket needs five balls; the Mini Market Fringed Bag needs three. We'll include a printed pattern when you buy the corresponding Loopy Mango Big Cotton; just let us know in the notes during checkout which pattern you need.
