New Yarn Alert: Rambouillet DK
We're super-excited to have picked up Juniper Moon's new Rambouillet DK weight yarn. Spun from 100% US-sourced Rambouillet wool, it provides terrific warmth, softness and elasticity. As light as a feather on its own, it can be worked to varying degrees of density; it also garners different effects when held with other yarns (think lace weight Mohair or Alpaca!). It's non-superwash and comes in 273-yard skeins. We absolutely love it for a few projects that have been in our minds lately:
Rosie is a brand new pattern from Danish designer Lene Holme Samsøe. We love the way the dramatic, graphic strands of roses drift across the body and sleeves; the clever construction of the sweater is a combination of a dropped shoulder and raglan. Rambouillet is perfect for it; the colors Candlewick and Cabernet are a pretty close approximation of the pictured sample. You can find the pattern and yarn requirements for Rosie RIGHT HERE.
Poppies is a raglan-sleeved pullover designed by Jacqueline van Dillen specifically for Rambouillet. It's an old-school allover colorwork project that's knit in pieces and then seamed. You can find the pattern and yarn requirements on Ravelry RIGHT HERE, but if you'd prefer a printed copy, you can grab one from Haus in that format RIGHT HERE. The sample is worked up in Silver Lining and Onyx.
Caitlin Hunter's Halibut is a pattern that took the world by storm, that's for sure. There's a sweater, a set of mitts, a hat, a cardigan...everything but a Halibut Kitchen Sink! We particularly love the cowl version of it -- and it would work up perfectly in Rambouillet. The Halibut Cowl is an in-the-round project that comes together quickly; a single skein each of two colors will take care of it (Peacock and Silver Lining would be great choices). You can find the pattern RIGHT HERE.
You'll find all sixteen colors of Juniper Moon's Rambouillet RIGHT HERE.

New in the World: Ovis!
Speaking of Caitlin Hunter...fresh from her amazing designer mind is Ovis, an adorable sheep-centric hat that's a great little colorwork project. It's a perfect use for Rambouillet DK; to replicate the one in the photo, we suggest using Rambouillet in Cabernet as a main color and then hold two Knitting for Olive bases (Merino and Soft Silk Merino) in Cloud together for a little fuzzi-wuzziness that'll lend those sheep a little bit of ooo-la-la. By the way, those are all highly technical knitting terms: fuzzi-wuzziness and ooo-la-la. THE MORE YOU KNOW!
You can find the Ovis pattern RIGHT HERE. Rambouillet is HERE and everything Knitting for Olive is RIGHT HERE. You'll need one each of all three yarns to do it our way!
By the way...Ovis has a matching sweater too, if you'd like to go whole hog! Or whole sheep, as it were.

Malabrigo Ultimate Sock: Back in Force and Now with Minis!
At long last, Ultimate Sock has been restocked to the absolute rafters and we've been able to add the delicious little minis that make for perfect toes and heels.
Ultimate Sock brings Malabrigo's legendary color palette to a 75% wool/25% nylon blend that makes it the perfectest yarn in the world for socks. At a healthy 420 yards per skein, you only need one for a pair of socks.
We've also added a dozen solid-ish shades in mini form. At 84 yards per, one skein is plenty for adding contrasting toes and heels to a pair of socks. Summer Lee's "I'm So Basic" socks is a free pattern for socks that you can rely on again and again and it's a perfect match for Ultimate Sock.
