One Skein Wonder: Zuzu's Petals

Nothing makes a knitter happier than a single-skein project! We're gonna take advantage of a Malabrigo Rios restock this week, and tell you about Zuzu's Petals! It's a classic one-skeiner that'll leave you with a fantastically warm (but not tooooo massive) cowl. Featuring some little bits and bobs of eyelet-ty lace, it's knit flat at the beginning, then joined and worked in the round until you reach the finish line.

You can find that pattern RIGHT HERE. Vicki knit ours using Malabrigo Rios on a US 8 (5mm) and she did it in like TEN MINUTES (ed. note: that's a lie, but she IS a fast knitter). While Rios is famous for its variegated colorways, we do think Zazu's Petals works up best in a color from the more solid/tonal side of things. Ours is in neutralish Coco but Rios has some amazing, vibrant choices as well! What's better than a vibrant bit of color on a cloudy fall day? Answer: Nothing!

You can find Rios RIGHT HERE. There's a lot of it. Get a chair.

Lara in Rasta and also...Lara in Rasta

The same truck that brought all that Rios also brought a whomping restock of chunky Rasta from Malabrigo - it's the ne plus ultra of super chunky merino wool yarn!

We absolutely love the Lara Hat worked up in Rasta; you only need two skeins (one each of two different colors) to make two adult-sized hats (one the reverse of the other, colorwise). We're not suggesting that you and a friend should traipse about town in matching hats at the same time, but...oh who are we kidding? We are totally suggesting that.

Lara is a quick project, FYI. You probably have time between now and the holidays to make, hmmm, about seventy-six of them. The pattern for Lara is HERE; it includes handy step-by-step instructions for that striking diagonal stitch-y thing!

Shop Malabrigo Rasta HERE! Remember: two skeins in different colors* -- and we have over 30 (!) to choose from. Add a fabulous faux fur pom HERE!

*Photo samples are worked up in Ivory and Piedras with a caramel pom.
