The Piuma Scarf in Piuma Cashmere

New from the wizards at Laines du Nord: Piuma Cashmere!  A chunky weight blend of Merino and cashmere (plus a teensy touch of nylon for durability), this is a great, quick-working-up yarn for skin-contact projects. It weighs next to nothing and its softness has to be felt to be believed. It offers great stitch definition and is perfect for both knitting and crochet projects. We've got it in five colors.

The Piuma Scarf is a great introductory project for Piuma Cashmere. A chunky version of the tapered scarf/bandana format that's just about everywhere right now, this charmer works up super quick...it'll be knotted on your neck in no time! The Piuma Scarf requires two balls of Piuma Cashmere and a US 10 needle. Add two balls to your cart and we'll include a printed copy of the pattern for free!

Note: please include a note during checkout that says "include free Piuma pattern" so we don't forget - because we assure you: we will forget.

You can find Piuma Cashmere RIGHT HEREReminder: you need two for this project. (BTW: our sample is worked up in Silver).

A Rainbow of Old Rusted Chair Tonal Minis...and Two Great New Sock Books!

Before she closes up shop for good, our friend Lou at Old Rusted Chair let us pick up all of her remaining stock - and a good chunk of that was in the form of her Tonal Minis. We've never offered her minis online, but in-store visitors have been huge fans of them for a long while! The wide range of colors (we've got over thirty!) in teensy eighty-yard increments allows you to experiment with contrasting sock heels and toes, whether you prefer traditional combinations or wilder ones. We love the "So Vanilla" sock pattern for this; you'll need to grab that yourself, but it's free on Ravelry.

ORC Tonal Minis are also great for when you need small amounts in multiple shades of fingering weight yarn for colorwork projects. As with all Old Rusted chair yarns now that Lou is closing up shop, these won't last long. Grab them while you can!

While we're on the topic of socks...we've been busy perusing the pages of a restock of two amazing sock books for inspiration:

Joyful Colorwork Socks features a handful of colorwork socks that are as fun to make as they are to wear! Colorwork sock maven Charlotte Stone (you might know her from IG as @stoneknits) designs quirky patterns that knitters will love bringing to life, with themes ranging from beloved pets to favorite foods to hobbies galore.

The Sock Project is a book for every crafter: beginners who want to learn, knitters who want to improve their sock skills, and anyone who wants to fill their knitting needles—and sock drawers—with jazzy colors and new designs. Build your skills month-by-month with 12 levels of sock knitting. First, start with the humble-but-mighty Basic Sock, then try more complicated patterns for lace socks, cabled socks, socks with Estonian Inlay, and socks done in stranded knitting. You’ll be able to sample 18 fresh and zippy patterns, plus new variations on favorite designs!
