Widow's Kiss
Our Alison recently headed up a sort-of impromptu in-store knitalong for Thea Colman's Widow's Kiss. And just look at her end results! Worked up in Novita x Laine's DK Light, this cabled motif is easier than it looks, with long stretches of 2x2 rib hidden in those simple cables. The upper yoke transitions into an almost-boatneck and the shoulder is a combined raglan/saddle. The sleeves are worked in plain old stockinette with a little bit of easily modified detail on the sides. Knit seamlessly from the bottom up, the body and sleeves are worked separately in the round and joined at armhole. This pattern's cables are both charted and written, so there's no excuse to not do it: Thea's got you covered!
Novita x Laine's DK Light is a wonderful yarn collab between Jonna Helin (founder and CEO of Laine) and the highly skilled folks at West Yorkshire Spinners. Made with the finest wool sourced from across the British Isles, it features a soft and airy twist and comes in a rich palette of a dozen colors. Alison worked hers up in Deep Burgundy, which seems to be a bit of a theme this week. Keep reading...you'll see.

¡Hola, Barcelona!
We've got a new sample of Meg's verrrry favorite - Vest Barcelona - in the shop, worked up in an irresistible combo of yarns: Novita x Laine 4Ply fingering and Knitting for Olive's Soft Silk Mohair.
The Barcelona Vest is a perfect three-season piece. This version is knit top down with the yarns held double, with decorative increases at the shoulders that create a gorgeous faux seam line. Designed with a slightly "oversized fit" (see: the deep neckline and armholes) it's perfect for layering over all just about any piece you wear under it. Since this lil' fella is on-premises (along with a handful of other iterations), feel free to come on in and try it on!
You'll find the pattern right HERE, and you can find Novita x Laine 4Ply RIGHT HERE. Get your hands on Knitting for Olive's Soft Silk Merino right HERE. Yardage guidelines are in the chart above. Meg's is worked up in Deep Burgundy (Novita x Laine) and Bordeaux (KFO Soft Silk Mohair) but let's get real here: there are a million possible combos! We've shown a few of the closer matches above, but this is a great opportunity to mix and match two colors you can't quite decide between! Just remember that it's the Laine x Novita 4Ply that's doing most of the heavy lifting colorwise.
And no you're not nuts: we've talked about Barcelona a few times. If you're interested in a single-yarned version, you might look at the Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino version we featured back in early 2025.

A Whole New Ricorumi! Furry Furry!
It's a new year, which means a lot of things...one of which is that we've got a new Ricorumi yarn! Welcome Furry Furry, a shirred yarn with a "fur" effect. Delicate fibers are embedded in a carrier thread and the end result creates a fine, fun fur-like surface when crocheted. This new structure gives crocheted animals a particularly lively look. The colors are perfectly matched to Ricorumi DK (RIGHT HERE), so the whole deal works together seamlessly!
And yes of course there is a corresponding booklet of adorable furry animal patterns (JUST LOOK AT THAT RABBIT, I MEAN, OMG). Furry Animals features 23 patterns that take you into an enchanting animal world - bunnies, elephants, birds (uh, the list goes on). Each little animal pattern uses Furry Furry in combination with workhorse Ricorumi DK. The ultimate effect is 100% ridiculously adorable.
And folks, you really don't need much to knock one of these out. For example the bunny is do-able with just six 25 gram balls of Ricorumi: one coral and two white Furry Furrys and then the same number of each in regular Ricorumi DK. Add a pair of safety eyes and - provided you've already got the book and a hook - this is a project that comes in around $20.
Find Ricorumi Furry Furry RIGHT HERE. The Furry Friends pattern booklet is at that same listing. You can find regular Ricorumi DK RIGHT HERE.
