Newsletter 914

Jan 26, 2026

This Week is Nuts. OFFICIALLY.

The store will be closed Monday the 26th and Tuesday the 27th because it is NO JOKE out there, folks.

Since this is an abbreviated shop-week due to the absolutely insane weather (though are snow and ice in winter really insane...or do we just like hyperbole? YOU DECIDE), this week's newsletter is similarly abbreviated. Just three really spectacular things instead of the usual four or five! ONLY THREE SPECTACULAR THINGS! Is that enough? We'll SEE!

Also: to prevent frustration on your part, do check with us on Instagram (@hausofyarntn) all week to see if we're open before hopping on your snowmobile and heading over. And you can always call the store (615-354-1007) to check; if we're there, we'll pick up the phone between the usual 10 and 2! If we're NOT there, you'll just get to hear Meg's mellifluous voice on the voicemail whatchamacallit.

Stay safe and warm and don't do anything silly. That Home Goods is still gonna be there later this week!

Saunter Sock

New this week: Saunter! This colorful self-patterning sock yarn creates lively stripes and playful prints as you knit. Soft, durable, and full of personality, it’s perfect for socks that stand out, or any project that calls for a touch of whimsy. Saunter comes in six colorways and its durable 50% superwash Merino/25% bamboo/25% nylon blend works up into a terrifically soft pair of socks.

There's a group of fun, fresh patterns written specifically for Saunter, a mini-collection called Half Pint. You can find all of those patterns RIGHT HERE. We particularly like Picot and Lace.

Brooten, in Woolfolk Tynd

We're always excited when we get a restock of Woolfolk's Tynd in, and when that box includes a handful of new colors, it's a special day indeed. So, ta-da! New to the lineup is a gorgeous array of blues that we just can't take our eyes off of.

Tynd has true staying power; it's been a favorite of knitters for a while.  A fingering weight 100% Merino yarn with a tight twist that produces a light-as-a-feather refined fabric, it's perfect for baby stuff, all-but-summer-sweaters and (read on) hats.

A perfect project for a single skein of Tynd is the short version of Woolfolk's Brooten hat (there's a long version too, which'll use up about half of a second skein). Brooten is worked in the round and features a duo of differently-sized cables, both of which are fun and easy to produce, in the way that cables always feel like a bit of magic. Close up the top with a little bit of Kitchener stitch and bing bang boom: Brooten.

You'll find the pattern on Ravelry; both sizes are covered in it. You can find Woolfolk Tynd in over two dozen colors (including the new blues!) RIGHT HERE. You only need one for the short version of Brooten!
