LYS Day...Lawdy!

Another Local Yarn Store Day is in the books! Thank you all so much for supporting us, along with other small yarn-centric businesses - not just on LYS Day, but all the days of the year. Y'all just about blew the doors off this time around, and based on how many lil' packs of zinnia seeds we gave away (one with every purchase!), we expect to see roughly one hundred thousandbouquets of zinnias on Instagram come August. Don't forget to post yours and include the #hauszinnias hashtag!

While we're definitely busy getting the store back together after the back-to-back double whammy weekends of Nash Yarn Fest and LYS Day, we've still got news...so keep reading!

Quick Class Note!

Classes for the rest of Q2 are just about filled up (but def check, just in case!), but there are a few spots open in Leah's Socks on Two Circs class sessions in June! If you'd like to spend the first weeks of summer prepping for the first weeks of winter...get over to the Classes page, check those dates, and give the store a call to grab your spot!

Modus Operandi's Zinnia Garden

There's still a bit of Modus Operandi's yearly batch of zinnia-inspired yarn in the store, even though Nash Yarn Fest and LYS Day did quite a number on it.

Master natural dyer and color wizard Rin used zinnias from Meg's garden and marigolds and cosmos from her own to rustle up the foursome of gorgeousity (surely it's a word!)...you can't get more local than our own backyards!

Zinnia Dawn on Silky Fingering or Lace Mohair
     -- Lace Mohair: 64% Kid Mohair, 36% Silk | 459 yds
     -- Silky Fingering: 70% Superwash Merino Wool, 30% Silk | 438 yds

Zinnia Dusk on on naturally grey Yak Fingering and Lace Yak
     -- Yak Lace: 42% Baby Alpaca, 35% Silk, 13% Non-Superwash Merino Wool, 10% Yak | 437yds
     -- Single-ply fingering: 65% Superwash Merino, 20% Silk, 15% Yak | 523 yds

We've got two fresh-off-the-needles samples that highlight all the bases in both colorways! Both are two-skein projects (one fingering, one lace)...minimum investment, maximum luxury!

Our version of Veronika Lindberg's In My Stripes Era scarf (above left) is worked up in alternating stripes of fingering and laceweight yarn (both in Zinnia Dawn) with simple increases on each end as you progress. The final result is as light as a feather and almost too soft to believe. The pattern is HERE.

Haus's own Kendall Bock worked up a fresh sample of her own Spring Drizzle Kerchief (above right)which also uses one each of MoFibers' fingering and lace (Kendall used the Dusk option). We adore this bandana-style kerchief that features delicate, vertical rows of eyelets. It's so easy to wear with no-fuss styling. HERE's the pattern.

Block-a-Month Knitalong REMINDER: May!

If you're Block-a-Monthing, just a quick reminder that May's in-store meetup is next Monday(May 4) at 11am right here up in the Haus! If you need the lowdown on what all of that means, check the lead story in Newsletter 910 (you can find that RIGHT HERE). Even if you missed that info the first time around, you haven't missed out on the KAL. This is a yearlong project. You can jump in at any time and catch up (or not, it doesn't matter!) at your own speed.

May's block is Block 5: Slide. It's an easy one, but remember: Month 5 brings the start of a new "strip," so you'll be casting on for this one!

The majority of knitalongers so far are using Plymouth Worsted Merino Superwash, but remember: any worsted yarn you want to use is the right answer! Some folks are working it up in Ultra Alpaca, some in Knitting for Olive's Heavy Merino. Just remember: you need about 200 yards for each block.  Plymouth Worsted Merino Superwash has been restocked in tsunami-ish quantities...so if you were waiting on a particular color...

Again, you'll find alllll the details for this KAL in Newsletter 910.  You can find the Block-a-Month Afghan book RIGHT HERE.

My Bohemian Jumper in Plume

We brought this jumper to your attention a few weeks ago and you all certainly took it to heart. It was especially popular at Nash Yarn Fest, which confirmed our belief that this one is a "toucher": if you touch it, you'll want it. We've since had a little Plume plump-up and we're ready for another Bohemian onslaught!

Plume is a delicious fusion of silky soft Egyptian cotton and nylon. The charm of it lies not only in its luminous, subtle sheen but also in its incredible versatility. Perfect for creating elegant tops, shawls, camisoles and chic accessories, Plume's particular cotton and nylon blend adds a touch of sophistication to every project.  It's a dream to work with - both soft and airy - and it weighs nothing, even when worked up into a chunky sweater...like.....

...the one Meg coughed up in no time flat! My Bohemian Jumper is worked top-down and results in a relaxed summer jumper with deep raglan armholes. We love its loosey-goosey "sweatshirt" styling and you'll spend half your time in it just hugging yourself. It's here in the shop if you wanna come see and/or feel it (and you will).

You can find your jumper size and corresponding yardage info using the chart above. You'll find that pattern RIGHT HERE. Plume in all of its gorgeous colors is RIGHT HERE.
