Gather 'Round for the Gathering Basket

We've had Bobilon's 100% cotton t-shirt yarn in stock for a while but we're just now getting these fantastic basket kits online - sorry if you were basket starved! ANYWAY! We've matched up Bobilon's nine-color bundles with Deja Joy's Gathering Basket crochet pattern. Note that there's a pattern adjustment: our kit comes with a wooden bottom, which means you will not need to start with the usual "Magic Circle" jazz; you'll just dive right in on Row 9 of the pattern and be done in no time!

There are three color variations. We made ours in colorful Angelina, but Victoria is a cool combo of blues and greens, and Kate is a neutrals-lovers dream. All three make a basket that's about 6" tall and 9" across. We've used ours variously as a cachepot for a favorite plant, a catch-all for balled yarn leftovers...even fun-size Halloween candies.

Kits include nine 20-meter balls of 100% cotton t-shirt yarn and an 8" pre-drilled wooden base. All you'll need is an 8mm (US-L) crochet hook (we've got 'em!) and a single biggish stitch marker (same!) to mark the beginning of your round. Don't forget to grab the pattern RIGHT HERE; it is not included in the bundle.

Tykk Line Bids Its Farewell. SAD FACE! But: There Are Free Sweater Patterns!

It is a fact universally acknowledged that the minute a yarn shop gets fully behind a yarn, that yarn immediately gets discontinued. And so it goes with surefire Top Ten Alltime Shop Favorite Tykk Line from Sandnes Garn. When we heard it was getting phased out, we ordered as much as we could for the shop! You saw it (and shopped it in spades) last month at Nash Yarn Fest because we think it's a perfect summer yarn. Guess what? It still is and summer hasn't even officially begun. So here we are letting you know: if you love this yarn as much as we do, now is the time! THERE WILL BE NO OTHER TIMES!

We love Tykk Line for the same reasons we love the original worsted and Tynn fingering versions...and with the added benefit of a chunky weight, your projects will fly off your needles. The entire Line line is made with a cotton, viscose, and linen blend (meaning no wool,...good news for those of you with wool allergies!), that's machine washable and offers the usual soft, absorbent properties of cotton and viscose, combined with the cool feeling of linen. Aesthetically, Tykk has a fantastic feel and drape to it; it can sometimes be hard to say why some yarns do and some yarns do not, but this yarn has capital-I IT.

We've got shop samples of two extremely popular makes: Augusta (free pattern HERE) and Florina (free pattern HERE) worked up in Tykk Line. The Augusta Singlet is a beginner-friendly pattern. It's worked bottom-up to the underarms, then the front and back are finished separately. The Florina Tee is an easy t-shirt worked from the top down, also suitable for beginning knitters...or just about anyone who wants an easy breezy summer t-shirt.

Check out the charts above for sizing and quantity info and then make tracks over to the Tykk Line page and get it done!

Tykk Line...Free Accessory Patterns!

The Tykk Line Free Patternpalooza isn't just limited to summer sweaters, nosiree! There are two great free patterns for fantastic bags as well...one is a knit project, and one is for crocheters.

Stella (three balls, free pattern HERE) and Isla (ten balls, free pattern HERE; this is the one for crocheters) both make great use of Tykk's sturdy cotton, linen and viscose breakdown and will come in handy on just about any errand. Plus...they're just fun and rewarding to knock out.

Follow those links to grab the patterns and again, Tykk is RIGHT HERE.

Super Snips in Super Shades

Does it feel like we tell you about Super Snips about every five minutes? Well that's because they're SUPER. And they SNIP.

Anydoodly...we've got them in three pretty new pastel colors if the usual neon array we've previously had isn't your deal.  These little TSA-safe snips (2 3/4” X 1 3/4”) are perfect for throwing in every project bag, and since they feature an attached safety cap, you’ll never accidentally yell “ouch!” while digging them out from the bottom of the bag!
