A Course Correction! Plus a Reminder.

Tiny correction to last week's news about Leah's sock class. It's on Sundays, not Saturdays! So read on if you're interested - it starts this weekend!

Leah is offering her incredibly popular Beginning Socks class, teaching the "two circs" method of working smaller circumferences. In addition to learning how to knit a sock, Leah will introduce you to working with two circular knitting needles, a technique that allows you to work smaller-circumference projects with ease...and you'll be able to apply that knowledge to future projects like sweater sleeves, two socks at a time, and hat crown decreases. This class costs $80. This is a three-Sunday-sessions course (you'll attend all three); please note different start times.

  • Sunday 6/7, 3-5
  • Sunday 6/14, 2-5
  • Sunday 6/28, 3-5

Give us a call at 615-354-1007 to get signed up!

It's also just about time for Alison's Tolsta Sweater KAL Class to start; there are a couple of spots left, if the Tolsta Tee's a loosey-goosey, make-your-own-adventure quality appeals to you, jump on these available spots! Solids? Stripes? A little floral motif? SURE, whatever! This basic tee pattern holds steady throughout, but there's all sorts of wiggle room for you to zhuzh it up to match your personality. This $85 class meets four times:

     • Saturday 6/13, 10-Noon
     • Saturday 6/27, Noon-2
     • Saturday 7/11, Noon-2
     • Saturday 7/25, Noon-2

Give us a call at 615-354-1007 to get signed up!

Please note that the first session begins at 10am; the following three begin at noon.  Also note that there is another, sold-out set of dates for this class. If you're already signed up for that one, you're all set!

Taste the Rainbow

Just once a year! It only happens once a year! Silbia at Camellia Fiber Co dyes up a batch of her gorgeous Rainbow Sprinkles for Pride Month - and we squeal with delight when we open the box every time!

It's hard to capture in photos how beautiful this is, but every color of the rainbow is represented in speckles against a backdrop of natural-hued yarn. This year, Silbia has added a shimmery version called (wait for it) Shimmer Suri Lace.  If you have time to pop into the store and take a look, you'll be as enchanted as we are!

We took a skein each of Worsted and Suri Lace and worked up The Rainbow Sprinkles Cowl. It's an easy piece - just knits and purls - worked flat, then twisted and seamed for a Möbius look. We held a single strand of Worsted along with two strands of Suri Silk Lace; the result is kitten-soft! You'll need one skein of Worsted and one skein of either Suri Silk Lace or Shimmer Suri Lace to make one; a printed version of the Rainbow Sprinkle Cowl pattern is free with any Rainbow Sprinkles Worsted yarn purchase.

Also! A solo skein of the worsted version makes a great little pair of adorable baby booties; we like the Wee Woodland Loafer pattern for this! You can find that pattern RIGHT HERE.

Find the whole spectrum of Rainbow Sprinkles options RIGHT HERE. As usual, the window for it won't be open long. Happy Pride, y'all!

Take a Trip with Noro

The response to last week's "little travel projects" piece was overwhelming! So this week, we have a few more...all three use various Noro yarns (you know it, you love it), and two of them are single-skein-ers!

First up is a favorite: the Quinny shawl.Quinny uses a single skein of Noro Kakigori to whip up a stunning triangle-shaped bolt of meshed lace that results in a generous wrap! Make one (or two!) in your favorite shade and just wait for the compliments to roll in. Hey hey: we'll include a free printed copy of the Quinny pattern with any Kakigori purchase. If you want a digital one, it's RIGHT HERE for $5.99.

Noro's Kakigori is RIGHT HERE.

Next is the Down the Garden Path, a bandana-style kerchief that uses Noro's Mebuki. You end up with a gorgeous bit of eyelet lace that's far easier to work up than you might think. You only need one ball of Mebuki, which is a brand new yarn from Noro. A thoughtful blend of silk, wool, and viscose brings together soft luster, light warmth, and an airy, organic texture, it's perfect for transitional and warm-weather wear. Noro’s famous skill with color is on full display, shifting effortlessly from hue to hue as you progress. The fabric feels fluid, luminous, and alive with movement.

You can find the Down the Garden Path pattern RIGHT HERE. Mebuki is RIGHT HERE.

An awesome crocheted tote rounds out this week's Noro-palooza! The Sunny Tote is a fantastic beach or market tote that uses two skeins of Ohajiki. Purchased leather handles finish it off (though it occurs to us that you could take the handles in several different directions....)

You can find that pattern RIGHT HERE and Ohajiki is RIGHT HERE.
