Yep, It's That Time Already: 2026 Advent Calendars
It's July, so...Happy Holidays! WIth just five months to go, these Advent calendars arrived just in the nick of time! This year, our friends at Firefly Notes have released 12-day calendars for both knitters and crocheters!
“What the Stocking Held” is a 12-day stitch marker Advent calendar for knitters. This Victorian-inspired advent calendar features stitch markers and progress keepers and - on Day 12 - a hand-resined notions tin to hold them all.
“What the Crow Noticed” is a 12-day calendar for crocheters. This winter wonderland-themed batch of removable stitch markers and, yep, a notions tin for the twelfth day.
You can find both sets RIGHT HERE; but not for long. These go quickly every season...even if the season is summer.
Interlude in Modus Operandi Fibers
Holding both MoFIbers Fingering and Lace Mohair Silk together, we knit this luscious Interlude Shawl. We love this one; it's lightweight, fully reversible and - especially with this yarn - incredibly drapey. Knit from the top down in garter stitch and simple fishnet lace, it's a masterpiece of delicate simplicity! We love the styling versatility as well; wear it like a traditional shawl, scrunch it up and style like a scarf or place the crescent shape in the front like a cowl!

Take a Ride on the Yarn Carousel!
From the folks at Twice Sheared Sheep, here's a perfectly-designed little yarn pal for managing a ball of yarn! Just pop the yarn onto the rotating base's spindle and get right to work without worrying about tangles.
There's also a handy muslin storage bag that keeps everything together when you need to pack your carousel for travel.

The Alice Top in Tykk Line
As we've mentioned before, our beloved Tykk Line from Sandnes Garn has been discontinued; we bought as much as we could find, but even that massive shipment is dwindling quickly. We still have some colors in garment quantities, though!
We love Tykk Line for the Alice Top, another sleeveless summer number we've recently become enamored with. Alice is worked from the bottom up in stockinette stitch to the armholes, then divided for front and back and each section is finished separately. The back is worked in one piece, while the front is divided for a V-neckline. The pattern also contains instructions for working the top from the middle using a provisional cast on, so the final length of the top can be adjusted at the end by working the body top-down (it's all less complicated than that makes it sound, we promise!).
Refer to the chart above for Tykk Line quanitities; you can also work this up in Line Worsted; you'll just hold the yarn double. Tykk Line colors in the photo above are available in Alice-friendly quantities, depending on required size. Top to bottom:
- Column 1: Pink Lilac, Bubblegum, Blosson, Rose Lavender
- Column 2: Ice Blue, Purple, Blueprint, Olive Green
- Column 3: Lemon, Orange TIger, Lilac, Blue Turquoise
