The Flat Rock Creek Scarf is a twofer when it comes to local and small. Designed by our in-house secret weapon Mama Jo, this generously-sized scarf was inspired by the creek that runs through friend-of-Haus Robin Verson's Hill & Hollow Farm just up the road in the rolling hills outside Edmonton, Kentucky.

Featuring a wild, rollicking cable "creek" that tumbles between two seed-stitched "banks," the Flat Rock Creek Scarf comes in at a dramatic five-and-a-half long! You can shorten it, of course, but...why?

Each kit comes with three organically-dyed indigo skeins (approximately 175-200 yds each) of Hill & Hollow worsted. Organically-dyed by Robin, the fleece for the yarn itself comes from the pasture-raised sheep of her nearby friends at Cabin Hollow Farm.

A full-color charted pattern is included with each kit.

Please note: while the three skeins in your kit will match one another, the blues from kit to kit do vary. Click through the photos above; some skeins are deep, watery blue, some are the paler blue of worn-in denim, and some fall in between those two poles. We can't guarantee a particular intensity, so consider a roll of the indigo dice as part of the fun!

Indigo yarn does “crock” - that is, a bit of blue may rub off onto your hands when you work with it.  It’s fine! It’ll wash off of your hands or clothes with a bit of soap and water. After you’ve finished knitting with it, hand-rinse your scarf and any further crocking should stop. Natural-finish wooden and bamboo needles can pick up some of the blue as well, so we do recommend against using them when working with indigo.
