BEGINNING KNITTING

Learn the necessary basics: Cast on, knit, purl, bind off, yarn over, I-cord and seaming as you make a hat.

PRICE: $50 for three two-hour sessions with Sandra

TECHNIQUES LEARNED: Cast-on, Knit, Purl, blocking, finishing

MATERIALS REQUIRED: US8 24" circular needle; US8 double-point needles; tapestry needle, T-pins, 200 yards worsted weight yarn in a light, solid color.

FEARLESS FINISHING

Learn the various methods of seaming, Kitchener stitch, picking up stitches and weaving in ends.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Basic knitting (cast on, knit, purl)

TECHNIQUES LEARNED: various ways of seaming, Kitchener stitch, picking up stitches and weaving in ends.

7 swatches completed PRIOR to class, in a smooth, light-colored, worsted weight yarn.

Stockinette (make 3 total)
(1) cast on 20 stitches and work in stockinette approximately 3 or 4 inches.
(2) Cast on 20 stitches and work in stockinette stitch for 2 inches.
(3) Cast on 10 stitches and work in stockinette stitch for 3 inches.
Garter – cast on 20 stitches and knit approximately 3 or 4 inches.
1x1 Ribbing – cast on 20 stitches and knit approximately 1.5 to 2 inches (k1p1)
2x2 Ribbing – cast on 22 stitches and knit approximately 1.5 to 2 inches (k2p2)
3 needle bind off – cast on 20 stitches and work in stockinette for approximately 1.5 inches to 2 inches. Leave stitches on the needles.

FIXING MISTAKES

Let's face it: we ALL make mistakes when we knit. We drop a stitch or forget a yarnover and don't see it until the next row...and sometimes we're not quiiiite sure how to fix it! If this sounds a little too familiar to you, you need to take this class!

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Basic knitting (cast on, knit, purl)

TECHNIQUES LEARNED: Fixing a dropped stitch in garter, stockinette (on the knit and purl side), and how to correct mistakes at the beginning and end of a row. You will also learn how to fix missed yarnovers and missed decreases

HOMEWORK REQUIRED: Arrive at class with three completed  swatches approximately 4"x4" in a smooth, light-colored, worsted-weight yarn.
Swatch 1: garter, do not bind off, leave on a needle
Swatch 2 & 3: stockinette, do not bind off, leave on needle

Sue recommends that swatches be worked on circular needles.

SOCKS ON TWO CIRCS

MATERIALS REQUIRED:  Two skeins Raggi, two 16" OR two 24" US 5 needles, darning needle, purchase your Boot Camp Sock pattern via Ravelry!

FAIR ISLE WITH LEAH

Learn stranded color work that's alllmost Fair Isle! You'll make this hat that's as pretty on the inside as it is on the outside... and don't be afraid--the yarn does a lot of the work for you!

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Basic knitting (cast on, knit, purl)

TECHNIQUES LEARNED: Simple color work

HOMEWORK REQUIRED: Arrive at class with 108 stitches cast on with Noro using smaller needles. Join in the round and work *k3, p1* ribbing for 6 rounds. Then knit 4 rounds!

TOOLS: Two 16" or 24" US8 circular needles; Two 16" US6 circular needles; Circular needles may be fixed but if you already own an interchangeable set, you may find using them ideal to manage your project.

PATTERN: DOWNLOAD pattern from Ravelry and PRINT prior to class.

MATERIALS: One skein Noro Kureyon, and One skein, solid worsted weight yarn, stitch markers.
