Zooey

Uh, Where'd Spring Go?

Anyone else feel like Spring forgot about us? It isn't even May and temps are already in the high 80s! It has us scrambling at the shop, shifting our focus to summer knitting projects a little sooner than we'd like. We're highlighting three projects this week, all sampled in Juniper Moon Farm's Zooey and Zooey Twist, a 60/40 cotton/linen blend with a slight thick-and-thin texture in a DK weight. It's the quintessential warm weather yarn and just gets softer and softer with washing...which is easy to do since it's machine washable.

We love the airy layer of the Weekend Wrap vest from CocoKnits. This simple pattern is knit with US 17 needles and will fly right off of them. Our sample, shown in Zooey 04 Taro, is medium-sized and only took one skein.
Yup, your eyes are not deceiving you, that IS yet another version of the ever-popular Churchmouse Yarns and Teas Easy Folded Poncho. This one is knit in Zooey 19 Jib and takes three skeins.
The third project we're sharing this week is Perivolos. Through the clever use of shawl/button closures, it's actually a piece that can be worn as a capelet (shown on Sandra), a shrug (shown on the mannequin), or a bathing suit cover-up (you'll just have to use your imagination regarding the bathing suit cover-up...we had no bikini-wearing volunteers at the shop to model it!). We're quite smitten with the Shawl Twist closure that is shown on the capelet photo. They're made of resin so they're incredibly lightweight and we have them in loads of different colors -- check them out here. Our sample, shown in Zooey Twist 02 Rocky Mountain, is 48" and takes two skeins.

Fixing Mistakes!

Let's face it: we ALL make mistakes when we knit. We drop a stitch or forget a yarnover and don't see it until the next row...and sometimes we're not quiiiite sure how to fix it! If this sounds a little too familiar to you, you need to take Sue's class! If you take just ONE class this year...we think this one is THE ONE! It's a super-empowering feeling when you make a mistake but you know you can, in fact, fix it! Saturday, April 29th, 11am-1pm, $45. Call the shop to register! 615-354-1007

Note: there's homework required for this one, you'll find the details here.
