Starboard Shawl

Color Combinations

Fresh Off Our Needles: The Starboard Shawl!

Get yourself ready for Spring and cast on the Starboard Shawl! Unlike many shawl patterns, this one is knit from the widest point, working decreases from the widest edge to the tip. We like it because your rows get FASTER as you work. We combined two fantastic super soft cotton yarns: Cotton Supreme Batik, a self-shading worsted weight cotton, and Pima 100 in a coordinating solid color. This 100% Pima cotton has a nice, tight twist that highlights the stitch definition in Starboard's gorgeous mesh detailing. We've got loads of color combinations to choose from; we came up with ten beautiful combinations...choose one of ours or create your own! Knit on a US9, get this one on your needles NOW and you'll be ready for Spring; it'll be here before you know it!

Notes on Starboard:

Samples shown in Cotton Supreme Batik in Navy Salute and Pima 100 Iris (left) and Cotton Supreme Batik in Mod Stripe and Pima 100 Stone Crop (right).

You'll need three skeins of Cotton Supreme Batik and one skein of Pima 100 to complete this project as shown. If you purchase the pattern, you'll notice it only calls for two skeins of Cotton Supreme Batik. However, our samples required an additional half-skein, so....better safe than sorry! We experience the unexpected surprises so you won't have to!

March Knitalong

Haus of Yarn Yearlong Knitalong: March Edition!!

Join us in the store next Monday, March 5th, at 11:00 am for March's Yearlong Knitalong project! This time around, we'll be working on the Tracks at Union Station! Designed by Haus sample knitter extraordinaire, Jo Strong, this sumptuous wrap is inspired by the Romanesque architecture of one of Music City's most famous landmarks, knit in Brooklyn Tweed Arbor, a DK-weight yarn, worsted spun for strength and stitch definition and dyed in a nuanced palette of 30 colors. You'll need four skeins to complete the project.

Not interested in making Tracks? You can still join the Yearlong Knitalong with an afghan block pattern from the Haus of Yarn Block-a-Month Afghan book. The Block-a-Month Knitalong meets at 1:00 pm on Monday, March 5th.

Remember: attendance for Knitalong Mondays is always free! As a genuine 'thank you!' for your participation, all materials purchased at Haus of Yarn that relate directly to each month's knitalong will qualify for double stamps on our Haus of Yarn Reward Card. DOUBLE STAMPS! We really do appreciate your participation and want to encourage as many of you to make as many of the monthly projects as possible. Earning double stamps will make it that much easier!

Not local? No worries! Join the Yearlong Knitalong virtually. Click here to join our group and come knit along with us!

We'd love to see your projects! In process or completed...if you're on Instagram, join in anytime with #yearlongknitalong and #hausofyarntn. Happy shopping, y'all!

If this sounds a little too familiar to you, you need to take Sue's class! Saturday, March 24th, 11am - 1pm, $35. Call the shop to register! 615-354-1007

*There's homework required for this one, you'll find the details here.
