Fresh Off Our Needles!
Designer Larissa Brown's Faded Fringe shawl is worked primarily in a simple repeating garter stripe sequence and ends with a showstopping 12-row eyelet pattern...plus an outrageously beautiful fringe. Though the pattern calls for a worsted-weight yarn, we used DK-weight Arbor from Brooklyn Tweed. We chose five neutrals, and we worked the body of the shawl in a light-to-dark progression. For the fringe, you might try a little stash-busting, using up all those leftovers from previous projects...or follow the lead of our sample and select another seven colors from Arbor's nuanced palette! Want one exactly like our sample? Here's what you'll need: first, purchase your pattern directly from Ravelry. Then you'll need one skein each of Arbor in Hammock and Humpback, two skeins each of Driftwood, Gale and Porter, and a kit of pre-cut fringe pieces. We did some of the work for you!
Fresh Off Our Needles: Part Deux!
We've recently restocked Viking of Norway Raggen, a hard-wearing worsted weight, machine-washable yarn, typically used for boot socks -- but who are we kidding? We love the bright spectrum of colors for almost anything! We took home one skein of #735 and whipped up a Basic Roll-Brim Beanie and a pair of mittens! Both projects are unbelievably quick and super easy!
Fresh Off Our Needles: Part, uh, Tres!
The Hyak sock has been on our "to knit" list for a while now -- the pattern has been out in the world for three years -- and when we finally got to it (in part due to the wet weather that's been keeping us housebound), we discovered that they're perfect to wear under rain boots! These are a quick knit in worsted-weight, and an excellent pattern if you've been wanting to try your hand at sock-knitting. The sample was worked using one skein of Viking of Norway Raggen in #720 and one skein of West Yorkshire Spinners Aire Valley Aran in #10. Depending on the size you make, it's highly possible that you'll have enough leftover yarn to reverse the colors and make a second pair!
Brooklyn Tweed Trunk Show: Save the Date!
From March 17th-April 1st, we'll be hosting a Brooklyn Tweed trunk show featuring eight pieces designed by Michele Wang. If you find yourself near the shop during those two weeks, make sure to stop in and see these beauties for yourself! We've ordered in copies of all the patterns featured and have a new shipment of Brooklyn Tweed in transit!
Sock Class!
There are only a few spots remaining for the incredibly popular Beginning Socks on Two Circs class! The class consists of three sessions held over the course of three weeks. If you've been thinking about signing up, now's the time!
Fix-It Class!!
Let's face it: we ALL make mistakes when we knit. We drop a stitch or forget a yarnover and don't see it until the next row...and sometimes we're not quiiiite sure how to fix it! If this sounds a little too familiar to you, you need to take Sue's class! Saturday, March 24th, 11am - 1pm, $35. Call the shop to register! 615-354-1007
