Shakerag Top

Everybody's Talking about Shakerag!

Mason-Dixon Knitting has come through again with a stellar installment of their Field Guide series; we're freshly restocked with Volume 6: Transparency, and we're completely in love with its featured Shakerag Top by Amy Christoffers. We think it's a perfect summer project match for one of Haus owner Meg's favorite yarns, Isager's Bomulin, a cotton/linen blend that drapes beautifully and knits like a dream...and we have it in six billion colors. Okay, twelve.

The Shakerag pattern is only available in either book or e-book form, but y'all, it is the pattern of the summer...mark our words!

Brooklyn Tweed Trunk Show

Yay! Another Brooklyn Tweed Trunk Show!

We've got a fantastic Brooklyn Tweed trunk show in the store beginning this Saturday, May 5.

It's a gorgeous mix of scarves and sweaters by Jared Flood, all using BT's signature Shelter or Loft (we've got the entire BT spectrum of both in stock). We're particularly taken with these four sweaters (clockwise from upper left): Agnes, Breton, Hawser and Corvid. As usual with Flood's designs, the beauty is in the details -- we've got this batch from May 5th until the 20th... don't miss it!

May Knitalong

Haus of Yarn Yearlong Knitalong: May Edition!!

Join us in the store next Monday, May 7th, at 11:00 am for May's Yearlong Knitalong project! This time around, we'll be working on the Bateaux Mouches scarf. This scarf is the epitome of easy! There's only one row to remember and the lace-weight yarn (held double) knits up quickly into the squishiest garter stitch! Our sample is worked with Isager Alpaca 1 held double with Findley Dappled, a combo that creates the most beautiful marled fabric! You'll need two skeins of Alpaca 1 (we used the color called 2s) and one skein of Findley Dappled (color: 122 Arcadia) to complete the project. Want a printed version of the pattern? It's available here!

Not interested in making Bateaux Mouches? You can still join the Yearlong Knitalong with an afghan block pattern from the Haus of Yarn Block-a-Month Afghan book. The Block-a-Month Knitalong meets at 1:00 pm on Monday, May 7th.

Remember: attendance for Knitalong Mondays is always free! As a genuine 'thank you!' for your participation, all materials purchased at Haus of Yarn that relate directly to each month's knitalong will qualify for double stamps on our Haus of Yarn Reward Card. DOUBLE STAMPS! We really do appreciate your participation and want to encourage as many of you to make as many of the monthly projects as possible. Earning double stamps will make it that much easier!

Not local? No worries! Join the Yearlong Knitalong virtually. Click here to join our group and come knit along with us!

We'd love to see your projects! In process or completed...if you're on Instagram, join in anytime with #yearlongknitalong and #hausofyarntn

Middle Tennessee Fiber Festival

Save the Date: Middle TN Fiber Fest

The Middle Tennessee Fiber Festival is right around the corner! Located in Dickson, TN, at the Dickson County Fairgrounds on May 25th and 26th, it'll be open that Friday from 12-6 and Saturday from 9-5. We love the local flavor of this festival, now in its eleventh year (and the chicken salad in the concession stand has always been terrific). We'll be there in the Yarn Bus, along with loads of other vendors! Shop around! Take a class! See you there!?

Fixing Mistakes

Fixing Mistakes!

Let's face it: we ALL make mistakes when we knit. We drop a stitch or forget a yarnover and don't see it until the next row...and sometimes we're not quiiiite sure how to fix it! If this sounds a little too familiar to you, you need to take Sue's class! If you take just ONE class this year...we think this one is THE ONE! It's a super-empowering feeling when you make a mistake but you know you can, in fact, fix it!

Saturday, June 2nd from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, $35. Call the shop to register! 615-354-1007

*There's homework required for this one, you'll find the details here.
