Fresh off Our Needles: Blooming Texture!

The Blooming Texture Shawl from designer Tina Tse is a perfect intermediate/beginner project; triangular in shape, it explores different combinations of stitches and plays around with different color combinations. It's one of those projects that you'll not want to set aside because you're just so excited about getting to the next section!

Although the pattern is actually written for two colors, we used a Backyard Fiberworks Mini Skein Pack.  These packs take the guesswork out of color coordination!  Each kit contains six mini skeins of Sock (133 yards each/798 yards total) in carefully curated "color stories" so you can enjoy stress-free knitting! The sample showcases the six-pack that Alice - the dyer behind Backyard Fiberworks - created just for Haus of Yarn. Of course it's our favorite!

Want yours to look exactly like ours!? Here's the formula we used:

  • Section 1: Natural
  • Section 2: Natural and Chartreuse
  • Section 3: Chartreuse
  • Section 4: Chartreuse and Charcoal Speckle
  • Section 5: Charcoal Speckle
  • Section 6: Charcoal Speckle and Charcoal
  • Section 7: Charcoal
  • Section 8: Charcoal and Green Speckle
  • Section 9: Green Speckle
  • Section 10: Natural and Dark Green
  • Section 11: Dark Green

Happy Knitting Everyone!

Yearlong Knitalong: August!

Join us next Monday, August 5, from 11:00 am until noon for the July installment of the Haus of Yarn Yearlong Knitalong; we'll be working on the Elegance Vest by designer Linda Karabinech. This vest is versatile in its wearability; it can be worn as a double-breasted wrap vest, open in the front, or with a deep shawl collar and closed with a pin. We love the construction of this design; it is so clever and comes off the needles with zero seaming required!

Yarn Suggestions: Berroco RemixWe love this one because it's made from 100% recycled fibers, it's machine washable and is a tran-seasonal blend that's comfortable year-round.

For those of you working on (or wanting to start!) a block from our Afghan Block-a-Month Book, we'll be meeting at 1:00 pm on Monday, August 5!
